The last time I attended a jw wedding no one was talking about any of the jw crappola. everyone seemed to be enjoying the dance and music and everyone's company. Until...Until one of the groom's aunts from Texas started to talk about field service and the recently done dc. People started to leave the area. So she got up and started hugging folks and asking how they were, then off she would go again about her hubby being on the quick-build committee or field service stories. My wife told her to quit trying to bring her down off her high! LOL I about crapped myself laughing when the aunt stormed off with her ample posterior swinging this way and that way bumping people off to the side.....

So I went to dinner with a big group of Witnesses last night - No Biblical discussion or WT talk of any kind
by BonaFide inthere were 20 in the group from 3 congregations.
it was kind of a "special talk" special meal with the speaker and his wife.. no one, i mean no one, not the elders there, nor the pioneers, talked about anything "spiritual.
" everything was about work, entertainment, personalities in the congregation, and music.

Is it possible that the WT society will soon collapse like a house of cards?
by BonaFide inthe recent internet phenomenon seems to be that 1. some news story breaks, and then 2. people start talking about it and twittering and forwarding emails about it.
and then it multiplies and multiplies until finally, 3. the whole world is talking about it.
the same with the madoff scheme.

"What kind of prayer do jw's say before dinner?"
My wife's dad has always been one for lengthy prayers. More so at family gatherings and jw assemblies. I can recall about 10 years ago, we had a BBQ at our place and he came with about 25 members of their family. Since dad was the elder statesman in attendance I asked him to offer the prayer. You should have heard the moans and whines. LOL His youngest brother said out loud that it was a mistake to let him pray because the fire would go out and the flies would have laid eggs in all our food before he was done....

Some Single Sisters' Problems with Brothers
by friday77 infirst of all, i'm a newbie to this site, so i hope that there will be some response to my thread on this particular topic (which i have plenty to relate about).. i wonder why some single (and a few married) brothers in the org have shown a great deal of disrespect for single sisters?
i am bringing this issue up because not only myself but also my sisters [i have four (4) other in my immediate family] along with 3 of my cousins (who have been dedicated and baptized since adolescent age) plus my own close girlfriends have experienced being gossiped/slandered by a host of brothers who think that they are "all that" and jah's gift to women on planet earth!
as a matter fact, when one brother in particular [whose uncle is an elder, brother was a regular pioneer/temporary worker at bethel and cousin was a ministerial servant] at a nicely-populated gathering saw myself, two (2) of four sisters, one of cousins and a few of my close friends being approached as well as introduced to a number of handsome, well-dressed brothers to us via two (2) of the family members whom hosted the event.

UPDATE on Saddest day of my life

thursday we went to see s and he was feeling more encouraged.
he was more upbeat and hopeful and he said they were going to give him some medication to help him sleep and to help get rid of the voice and the hallucinations he was having.

even smaller more obscure religions produce superheroes, so i was wondering if there was some doctrine or teaching, or perhaps the gb does not want any followers to be too powerful.. why is there no jw super heroes at all?.

They do have superheroes. However unlike the haughty superheroes of the world they are very modest and remain anonymous, just like the New World Translation Writing Committee. Their superheroes are their governing body. Who is Superman just because he leaps over tall buildings in a single bound?
The governing body performs almost impossible feats of strength and dexterity by leaping over HUGE obstacles like "Truth" "Justice" and "Decency".
Defeating the missles of common sense and logic with their "Shield of Propaganda".
When cornered they always have a secret weapon too. They can use the threat of shunning to silence their foes or they can exercise their superior mind control powers to lull their attackers into a deep spiritual sleep.

I know the elders around here are looking rather tired. They cannot do anything but go around putting out fires of discontent. Or so my father in law tells me.
